Ray Barretto
Percussionist, Composer, Bandleader
Kaleidoscope Sound was recommended to me by other musicians
whose musical taste I trust. Based on those recommendations,
I went to Randy Crafton and Kaleidoscope to work on my new
project. Everything that I heard was on the money and more.
Randy was a delight to work with, and as a musician himself,
his antenna was very receptive to what we were trying to do
in the studio. I came away completely satisfied with the result
and would recommend him and the studio to the world of music
wholeheartedly.

Music Director, Composer, Producer
The experience of working at Kaleidoscope Sound is richly
rewarding, musically and personally. From the great microphone
selection to the versatile isolation, the superbly conscientious
engineering and tech support, the great MIDI room, and of
course State-of-the-art ProTools recording software and a
huge sample library, the fully stocked kitchen, the mints,
toothbrushes and dental floss in the bathroom, the rest area,
even the soothing purple walls, and of course, Randy's Mom
and Dad and Abby the Labrodoodle. I always look forward to
working at Kaleidoscope. It's proximity and convenience to
Midtown Manhattan and very reasonable rates make Kaleidoscope
a very attractive alternative to the higher end New York facilities.
I plan to be a regular visitor there for years to come. Thanks
Randy and Amy.

A jewel of a studio ~ what appeals to me most is the vintage
equipment mixed in with state-of-the-art technology ~ the
best of both worlds. Great vibe...great folks to work with!

Trumpet - Klezmatics
Kaleidoscope is great - large rooms, flexible set ups, great
equipment, we got more done there in three sessions than we
would have in a week somewhere else. The room set up is comfortable
and flexible, the vibe is great, the dog is friendly, the
local restaurants rock, and it is an atmosphere of respect
and quality. A great working studio environment.
Sue Mingus
Director, Mingus Bands, Author
Although musicians rarely have a single unified voice on any
subject, our three Mingus bands enthusiastically approved Kaleidoscope
not only for its well-equipped studio, its sound, and its first-rate engineer
Randy Crafton, but its warm and welcoming hospitality overseen by Amy Platt.
It's only about eight minutes from Times Square through the Lincoln
Tunnel, and its prices are incredibly cheap.
Ron Odrich
Clarinetist, Composer
Kaleidoscope Sound is by far the best studio around. The flexibility
of cutting edge equipment and know-how, coupled with traditional
methods, vintage mic¹s, and great engineering shows in superb
results. It helps a lot to work with friendly people in a cordial atmosphere and
it is very comforting to know that the folks in the control room are
superb musicians themselves. They bring a level of professionalism to the experience
that allows the recording artist to concentrate on performing at
the optimum level, a unique occurrence in this field. Five stars for Randy,
Amy and Sal. They are simply the best.
